Proper Placement and Installation is Key

A critical component of Barn Owl attraction is how the Barn Owl Box is intergraded into your environment.  Some yards are great candidates for a box, others are less appealing (to a Barn Owl that is!).  Because wildlife behaves differently in different regions, it is very important to have a local expert evaluate your unique situation.  Many factors are considered when Wild Wings evaluates a prospective site (habitat, placement, pole height, etc.), and this allows the potential box owner to be educated on their chances of attracting an owl.

From Agoura to Pasadena and from Valencia to Venice, Wild Wings has installed Barn Owl Boxes all over the Greater Los Angeles Area.

When it comes to the actual installation, we stress that Barn Owl Boxes should be mounted on a pole and NOT on the trunk of a tree.  There are many reasons for this, with avoiding detection from European Honey Bee scouts being one of them; by mounting the box on a tree you are almost guaranteed bees as the tenet, not an owl.

Above are some examples of installed Wild Wings Barn Owl Boxes.  We are able to customize the installation to your wants and needs.  The center photo has a raptor perch mounted above the box and a passerine nesting box can be seen in the photo on the right and below.  Diurnal and Nocturnal birds can share the same space without conflict.  In this way, bugs get consumed throughout the day and rodents are eliminated during the night!
